"The Kirky Hut" is a tastefully decorated Shepherd's Hut, situated in the fields above the village of Kirkmichael. This is the perfect place for people who love nature, countryside and eco-friendly environment! It is an ideal hideaway and peaceful, rural retreat!
New for 2021 is the addition of an outdoor sauna and also a hammock / tent to add to your experience.

The hut is suitable for two people - two adults, or an adult and a child. Please be aware we don't provide cots, high-chair, etc.
In the hut there is a small kitchenette which has everything you will need for your stay - fridge, cooker, kettle, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, unfortunately no hot water which you can easily have by boiling some in the kettle.
The electricity is provided by solar panels, positioned on the top of the shed. Water comes from a water tank - bottles with drinking water are provided. There is an eco-friendly compost toilet, situated at the back of the hut along with a gas powered shower room. You have to bring your own toiletries as we know everyone has their own taste and preferences.
All the linen for the good size double bed is provided, including fresh towels. There is plenty of storage under the bed and on the wall. Books and games for you to use for some entertainment are provided as well. Sorry no TV but good 4G signal!
In the outside shed there will be plenty of logs for the fire pit, where you can sit by on the bench having your dinner, sipping your glass of wine and enjoying the spectacular views in all directions.

Kindrogan has miles of tracks for walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders. The long tracks will suit anyone who has endurance and a sense of adventure! If time allows visit Loch Curran with its abundance of wildlife, it's a beautiful place for those seeking solitude. Mostly wide gravel tracks and quiet roads. Some uneven steeper sections. Long distances so allow sufficient time.
A stunning route through varied landscapes of birch and pine woodlands, heather moorland and fields with livestock. Enjoy amazing views of the Strathardle countryside and visit the sites of the Bronze Age roundhouses and a historic fermtoun. Quiet roads and farm tracks, mostly grassy paths through open countryside. Some steep sections and wet ground at any time of year. Some boardwalk and gates. Two bridges to cross.
This short walk next to the River Ardle provides the perfect introduction to the Kirkmichael Path Network. Legend has it that the name Ardle is derived from a Pictish warrior who was killed in a battle at Enochdhu. Mostly smooth gravel tracks. Take care on village roads. Two flights of steep steps.
This route takes you on a gentle tour around the village and links into other paths. You'll find great pubs and accommodation as well as the community run local shop. Mostly smooth tarmac quiet roads
